La Fee Verte - Finished!

Well I was threatening not to post this till after FaerieCon. But last night I got notified that my site was going to be linked on a very popular blog today: http://www.darkroastedblend.com/

And if that resulted in some lovely new traffic I didn't want those visitors to miss out on the latest piece. SOOOO..... without further ado....La Fee' Verte. She definitely changed a fair amount from the graphite drawing. There is no mask and her feathers and brooch were replaced by flowers. Additionally my first color scheme was far too Mardi Gras. I was not happy with that at all. So I chose to paint the Absinthe in a minty or seafoam shade - closer to how Absinthe looks once the iced water and sugar have been added to it. This allowed me to stray away from the acid greens that are typically associated with Absinthe and to incorporate some other colors I like very much. (Edit: I forgot to mention the inspiration behind those color choices! Second Life's favorite avatar TORLEY!!! Honestly I was struggling with the color scheme - then looked up to see a tweet from Torley (who I follow on my twitter) and suddenly all was clear. I knew the colors had to be fuschia and that particular family of watermelony greens that Torley is so famously fond of! Thanks Torley.) The painting will be at FaerieCon as a giant banner and limited edition hand embellished signed prints. Hope you like her!

OMG! This is SO beautiful! So lush — and like Dawn said, iridescence. Illuminating and incandescently glorious, I'd say!

Happy to inspire. I'd love to have an outfit like her on my Second Life female avatars!

The intricacy of the flowers in her hair... WOW! Great art, Brigid. =D
